The Cook County Treasurer has mailed the 2018 first installment tax bills to taxpayers in Cook County. This installment is an estimated bill equal to 55% of last year's (2017) tax bill. This bill does NOT reflect the 2018 proposed assessment or your 2018 exemptions. The payment due date is March 1, 2019.

There is good news for property owners who successfully appealed their 2017, 2016, or 2015 assessments. Your new tax bill DOES reflect the savings from an appeal. In fact, due to the increase in most local tax rates, your actual savings are greater than your projected tax savings.

If you have retained our office to represent your interests in challenging your 2018 assessment, please remember that a final decision on appeal may take as long as six (6) months. The tax savings will first be reflected on the second installment of your 2018 taxes (payable in the fall of 2019). This appeal will not affect your 2018 first installment bill. You are advised to pay the first installment by its due date of March 1, 2019.
